afternoon delight

I've finally been brought into the Arrested Development watching circle. I wish that I would have actually been a part of it while it was on the air, but the last few years I've been too skeptical of any television show that wasn't the Simpsons, or Seinfeld.

I just saw the episode with an awkward Christmas Party karaoke session where the aunt and nephew sing Afternoon Delight, completely naive of the sexual meaning in the song. I found this especially funny because the same thing happened at a family get-together on Memorial day. My step-uncle John brought his famed karaoke machine. I listened in horror as my cousins Luke and Rueben sang a duet about 'rubbing sticks and stones together making sparks ignite,' 'sky-rockets in flight,' and 'making a lot of love before the sun goes down.' It's amazing how many pop songs are not appropriate for family members.

I myself ended up singing a song with my Mom by the Eagles. I fumbled over the lyrics 'I want to sleep with you in the desert tonight.' But I comforted myself believing that sleeping is in fact just sleeping. After-all we have our own sleeping bags.
